LCPI conducts a peacebuilding, conflict analysis, cohesion and mediation training in Ahero, Kisumu County

The two-day Peacebuilding, conflict analysis, cohesion and mediation training was attended by 30 participants all coming from Nyando and Muhoroni sub-counties. It took place at the Ahero Multipurpose development-training institute on 6th and 7th of June 2017. The participants included the DPCs, members of the Luo Council of Elders, the business fraternity, bodaboda, IEBC and the Youths. The training was part of the Jamii Thabiti Peacebuilding programme in Kisumu County.

The training revolved around the four key concepts of peacebuilding, conflict analysis, cohesion and mediation. The training also explored cutting-edge debates on peace education, dialogue, conflict resolution, management and transformation. The training design was based on a mix of presentations, group work and exercises to better harness the gains of these concepts. The participants from both Nyando and Muhoroni did not only participate to develop their skills and acquire new knowledge but also come together and build bridges of peace as we approach the general elections.

The successful conclusion of the Peacebuilding, conflict analysis, cohesion and mediation training was a collective effort of everyone: from the donors who initiated the programme, the LCPI implementing partner who continuously dedicate themselves to creating a climate of trust and respect among the peace actors in the region with much enthusiasm and passion as well as the participants who generously continue to share experiences as well as vibrant energy.
